Number The Stars

Dear Diary,

October 1,1943

Today we were walking home from school and I told Ellen “ I’ll race you to the corner!” But Ellen said no because her legs were too short. I was like we have to practice for the athletic meet on Friday, and I was begging Ellen, then she said “Oh, all right. Ready, she said. “Go!”

I outdistance my friend quickly, even though my shoes came untied. The corner was just ahead. I looked up, panting, just as she reached the corner. My laugh stopped. I was about to run into a soldier, but I stopped immediately. Ellen stopped right after me. Far back, little Kirsti came running. There were two soldiers. One of the soldier ask “Why are you running?” “I was racing with my friend” I said.

The soldier ask me what was in my backpack and I said “School Books.” “Are you a good student” the soldier asked.“Yes” He kept asking me questions and then Ellen. Then the soldier said “Go home”,all of you.”Are you going to tell your mother?” Ellen asked. ‘’I’m not” When I got there it was too late Kirsti had already told everything to my mom. My mom said “What happened, Annemarie” I said “Nothing, don’t worry” I felt bad about lying to my mom, but she would get mad at me for talk with the soldiers

The Crazy Cookie Dilemma

Every year on Christmas my family and I make cookies
I had so much fun making them this year with my cousins
Because my cousins would get icing and put it on my face
Also they would get flour and throw it at me
But I would throw some back
So it was taking us forever to make the cookies
Also my mom got us in trouble for throwing flour on the ground

After all that time playing around
We finally put them in the oven and then made hot chocolate
The hot chocolate was hot as fire
After the cookies were baked and hot chocolate was made
We finally sat down in the living room in front of the fireplace
And it was time to eat
The rest of the time we just talked
